August 9th

So I finished up arriving at Merriam, KS, at about 10 this morning. Took a while to offload, but the trailer smells really great inside because it was cedar shingles on there.. You ever smelled seasoned cedarwood? Wonderful..

My reload is in Atlanta waiting for me to arrive, so I have blasted off to Warrenton, MO, where I put 237 gallons of diesel in. No fear of filling it this time!! But that was really plenty close enough to empty for my liking. The rated capacity is 250 gallons.. so not much spare. Luckily, the Flying J here is still Flying J, so I still get the free showers and free coffees.

It is hot as hell here, and the fan in the sleeper has decided to give up the ghost so I have to run the aircon vents from the cab back there. Not a big deal really, and I will look at it when I get somewhere cooler. I think there will be one in the yard...

According to Puff, it is 32 degrees at home (for my US friends- 32x2=64-10%=59+32=91deg F) According to her Mum, my pumpkin is now the size of a grapefruit. Since I have been trying to grow pumpkins for 5 years with no success, this is a good sign!!

Anyway, I shall be leaving here later tonight for Newnan. Lots to do.

I know they are being merged, but does that mean no freebies with fuel?

  2. Not sure how it is going to work. The talk is that there will be just one card for all. I am going to test the theory out when I go for a shower with my new Pilot card here in Beaverdam.
